We treat many patients who spend much of their time trying to figure out what is making them feel bad. Symptoms of IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), SIBO, and other digestive issues include constipation, diarrhea, bloating, abdominal pain, weight fluctuations, a chronic upset tummy, and fatigue. Gut health also affects mental health. And how you’re feeling isn’t something you can just “shake off.” It is not in your head.
It’s not uncommon for patients to develop a fear of food due to negative feelings associated with eating. Additionally, attempting to follow elimination diets without proper guidance can lead to malnourishment and nutrient deficiencies, which can contribute to disordered eating habits.
Improving gut health requires both lifestyle and diet changes. To make these changes safely, it’s important to consult with a gut health nutrition expert and registered dietitian. Telehealth has made this much more convenient.
The trillions of bacteria that live in our guts create their own ecosystem called a microbiome. This microbiome directly affects our health : obesity, neurodegenerative diseases, mental health, immunology, hormone health, and chronic disease.
As online nutrition experts and licensed dietitians we will provide you with strategies to improve your gut health. One common, effective way to improve symptoms of IBS, SIBO and other digestive disorders is to implement a low FODMAP diet.
FODMAP is an acronym for: Fermentable Oligosaccharides Disaccharides Monosaccharides and Polyols. FODMAPs are a type of short-chain carbohydrate found in a variety of foods. Consuming foods high in FODMAPs can lead to symptoms such as bloating, gas, abdominal cramping, and diarrhea.
A low FODMAP diet involves reducing, but not eliminating, the consumption of foods high in FODMAPs. After 6-8 weeks, certain FODMAP-containing foods can be gradually reintroduced into the diet.
Work with an online gut health dietitian and licensed nutritionist to receive guidance and support to follow a low FODMAP diet plan. We will ensure you receive the necessary nutrients while properly implementing the plan and navigating the FODMAP protocol. We will also assist you during the reintroduction phase of certain FODMAP-containing foods, monitoring nutrient needs and making adjustments as needed. Do not do this based on something you read online as every body is unique and has specific needs.
To implement the FODMAP diet, our licensed nutrition experts also consider the unique lifestyle factors that might affect your gut health, exascerbating your IBS, SIBO, or other digestive issues. We will work to understand factors in your life like anxiety and stress, eating patterns, and food beliefs.
Make an appointment with an online digestive health dietitian. Identify the underlying causes of your gut problems and associated chronic pain. Together, we will design a customized nutrition plan to help improve your health and well-being, one meal at a time.

Many use the terms ‘dietitian’ and ‘nutritionist’ interchangeably. Be aware that only a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) meets rigorous academic requirements with clinical training. To be called an RDN, you must have a degree from an accredited university. Our team of virtual dietitians must stay informed of guidelines set by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics to maintain their certification as well as provide our patients with expert online nutrition counseling.
