Is infertility common for women?

According to the CDC, around 20% of women (with no prior births) between the ages of 15 and 49 face challenges in getting pregnant after one year of trying. Additionally, approximately 25% of the same demographic encounter difficulties in conception and/or maintaining a pregnancy. Many women grapple with fertility issues, and it’s important to know that you are not alone.

What causes infertility in women?

Infertility can stem from various physical and environmental factors, including:

  • Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)
  • Functional hypothalamic amenorrhea (FHA), triggered by extreme exercise, weight loss, high stress levels, or a combination of these factors.
  • Hypothyroidism
  • Poor nutrition

Can a dietitian help with fertility?

Nutrition and lifestyle choices profoundly impact physiological processes, including hormones and fertility. Well-balanced nutrition is crucial for increasing the likelihood of successful conception, supporting a healthy pregnancy, and managing reproductive health issues or hormonal symptoms effectively. Regardless of where you are in your fertility journey, targeted nutrition interventions are a vital component of your healthcare plan.

Our team of online certified nutritionists empowers women with functional nutrition coaching with the goal of optimizing fertility through evidence-based nutritional counseling. Diet and lifestyle modifications are key in addressing infertility issues in women. Whether you’re aiming for natural conception or assisted reproductive technology (ART), collaborating with a fertility dietitian helps reduce the risk of complications during pregnancy and labor. Here’s how we can assist you:

  • Analyze your diet and provide a comprehensive diet and nutrition review.
  • Offer targeted nutrition interventions to manage reproductive health conditions like PCOS, thyroid problems, metabolic issues, gut health problems, and more.
  • Help you achieve a healthy weight to optimize fertility and support your ART journey, reducing the risk of complications during pregnancy and labor.

Together, we’ll develop strategies to make you feel better and prepare your body for a healthy pregnancy. Take control of your life, one bite at a time.
